Description
The DeGeorge at Union Station provides a “forever home atmosphere” for formerly homeless veterans, both male and female of any age, as there are no time limits on length of stay. They work with the veterans to identify any mental and/or physical health needs and then to find service providers and treatment options. The DeGeorge makes many basic services available to the vets in residence including computer station, copy machine, van transportation for medical appointments, emergency food pantry and new household items upon arrival (bed linens, towels, hygiene kits, etc.). Many area agencies such as the VA Regional Office and Social Security, offer on-site services. In addition, the DeGeorge creates educational as well as social opportunities for the veterans.
