Bob Campbell will offer a class in which participants will read and study The Gospel of Matthew, using theDaily Lectionary from the Book of Common Worship as a guide. Bob writes of his course, “This systematicapproach will enable us to explore the historical, literary, and liturgical contexts of this beloved gospel, and to apply its wisdom to our own lives as individual and as a community of faith."
Paul Haeberlen will offer a class on Science and Religion, using the curriculum of Lawrence Principe at Rice University. Popular opinion generally assumes an antagonistic relationship between science and religion, but modern scholarship increasingly reveals this as a one-sided view that is relatively recent. This course's approach to the issue is both historical and philosophical. You can find more information on-line about the course at http://www.teach12.com/ttcx/CourseDescLong2.aspx?cid=4691
Rev. Warren Johnson will offer a class in the parlor, which will study The Gospel of John using the commentary written by Dr. William Barclay.
Rev. Dr. David Jones will offer a course on Presbyterian theology using Donald K. McKim’s book Presbyterian Beliefs: A Brief Introduction. The class will cover what Presbyterians believe about revelation, the Trinity, creation, providence, humanity, sin, Christology, the Holy Spirit, election and predestination, salvation by grace, the church, the Christian life, and everlasting life.
David Martinez will facilitate a class on Wm. Paul Young’s The Shack. The Shack is a fictional New York Times bestseller that raises many fundamental questions about our relationship to God and our responsibilities for each other.
