Dear WCPC family:
I’m pleased to share with you the good
news that your Session, following an enthusiastic
recommendation of the Worship Leader Search Committee,
has hired Clint Blalock to be our Worship Leader. Clint
is married to Julie and they have two young children,
Isaiah and Emily. The Blalock family will be moving to
The Woodlands the first of July and Clint will begin his
ministry here that same week.
Clint’s responsibilities will be
threefold: First, he will staff the less
traditional worship service the Session has authorized
for the 11:00 hour on Sunday. There is much preparation
needed before we begin this new venture once Clint is on
staff, so until we are ready to begin both the 8:30 and
the 11:00 worship services will be the same. While I do
not want to give you false information, I do believe by
late August and certainly by early September our plan of
offering a traditional service at 8:30 under the staff
direction of your pastors and Beth Thompson and an 11:00
less traditional service under the staff direction of
your pastors and Clint will be in place. Second,
Clint will direct our Youth Choir. Third, Clint
will organize and lead a worship experience on Sunday
evenings for our youth, as part of their weekly
gatherings.
Currently Clint is on staff at the Park
Cities Baptist Church in Dallas. In addition to
providing leadership at both their contemporary and
traditional worship services on a weekly basis, he is
also the Worship Leader for their Youth Fellowship.
Because of his role at both their contemporary and
traditional services Clint brings an understanding of
the importance and a great appreciation of both styles
of worship.
In Clint’s resume he states the
following: “I
dream of a Church that enthusiastically recaptures the
arts for the Lord, seeking to engage culture with
expressions of God’s creation in music, paint, pictures,
dance, sculpture, and drama.”
I would ask
that you regularly remember Clint and his family in your
prayers in the coming month as they move to The
Woodlands and in the coming months as they begin their
life here.
I would like
to express my thanks to the Worship Leader Search
Committee and to their Chair, Catherine Scheffler for
their commitment to this search and the investment of
time and energy to its completion. Their prayer from
the beginning was to be lead to the person God had
already prepared. We believe that prayer has been
answered in Clint Blalock.
Blessings and
God’s peace,
David Jones
