October 21, 2005

Dear WCPC family:

I got lost the other day.  Happens to me on occasion.  Like many I am confident the next turn I’m looking for is just ahead of me, so I don’t bother to stop and ask for directions.  As I sat at a stoplight someone pulled up next to me and rolled down their window and asked, “Is this the right turn to get to…?”  I told them I had no idea.  I didn’t even know where I was.

Ever find yourself lost?  Happens in life.  Things can  easily spin out of control and we find ourselves confused. The problem is, often we keep that to ourselves.  We don’t let others know how lost we at times feel.  So we keep driving, we keep moving, and maybe we find our way again, or maybe we don’t.

One of the reasons God has given the gift of the Christian community is so we can pull alongside of others and ask them for help, ask them for counsel, even direction and so we can be available for others who pull their window down and say, “Hey, you got any idea how to….?”

There are three dates I wanted to make certain you are aware of:

  • First, all those in our congregation who have been ordained are invited to a special night of food and fellowship and fun we are calling “The Fellowship of the Ordained.”  Our first annual event will be on Friday, November 4th at 7:00 p.m. in the Fellowship Hall.  The Covenant Players, a Christian drama group, will provide the entertainment.  The meal is being catered by Carrabba’s. The cost is $10 a person.  You can R.S.V.P. by calling Kathy Richardson at 281-296-7705 or emailing her at kathyr@houston.rr.com

  • Second, a fall discipleship event is planned for Saturday, November 12th beginning at 8:30 am  till 4:00 pm.  Everyone is invited.  I’ve attached an informational sheet with this email for your consideration.

  • Finally, this Monday at 7:30pm we will hold a service for Healing and Wholeness in the sanctuary. Even if you can’t attend, please use some time on Monday to pray for God’s healing and wholeness to touch all those who seek it.

As always, I look forward to seeing each of you on Sunday, as we conclude our current series with “The Adventure of Sharing Your Faith.”  I trust and pray that this series has been helpful for you in your journey of discipleship.  See you then, and oh, by the way, “Go Astros!”
