Disaster Offering

Recovery from the cyclone that hit Myanmar/Burma continues. Presbyterian Disaster Assistance (PDA) is responding as a member of ecumenical partnerships, working with Action by Churches Together and Church World Service. Contributions to PDA will help continue and expand the response. You can make your check payable to WCPC and mark it for Disaster Assistance. Contributions from WCPC to date total $2,445. We also hold the people in China in our prayers, in the wake of the terrible earthquake. For information about how to contribute directly to this and other disaster relief efforts, go to: www.pcusa.org/pda.

Have a Used Cell Phone?

The National Interfaith Coalition on Aging is dedicated to being a catalyst for new and effective approaches to spiritual growth in aging. You can support this important ministry by donating your used or broken cell phone. Whether scrapped or refurbished, your donated phone will help protect the environment and support this great cause. Just bring your phone to the Interfaith Food Pantry armoire in the Narthex, and we will see that it gets to Interfaith CarePartners in Houston for this project. This is an easy way to be “green” and support a very worthwhile national program at the same time.

Loaves and Fishes

On the first Sunday of every month, the salad for the lunch at the Loaves & Fishes Soup Kitchen in Houston is purchased and prepared by folks from WCPC. The team leaves the church at about 9:15am and is back by 1:30pm. Would you like to be a part of this important ministry? We are always looking for people to give up the last 15 minutes of Sunday worship to do this. Older elementary age children are welcome if accompanied by a parent. Contact Warren Evans at 281-367-6956.

Friendly Visitor

Interfaith of The Woodlands is looking for some very special people to serve as friendly visitors to specific residents at the senior long term care facilities. These people would visit, sit with and converse with the residents, one-on-one. It does not take a lot of skill, but requires someone with a heart for people who are lonely. For most of the residents of these facilities, the days are long and predictable. Any visitor is a fresh face and would be welcomed and appreciated. If you can give some time to this important ministry, please contact Lori Mercer at Interfaith, 281-367-1230 or lmercer@woodlandsinterfaith.org.

Wednesday Study Group

The Wednesday Study Group will read The Bible Makes Sense by Walter Brueggemann, beginning June 4. Books are available for purchase for $8. The group meets on Wednesdays from 10:00 to 11:30am in Annex H. Please join us for this summer study!

Make a Difference

Do you want to put your faith into action but don’t know where to start? Pick up a multi-colored brochure at the Hospitality Desk. It is called “WCPC Mission Outreach,” and it is full of ideas and contact information for you. Why do we reach out? Because we believe that God’s love knows no boundaries!

Join the Mow 'n Blow Crew

Help keep the church ship shape. We need volunteers for mowing, trimming and blowing the grounds on Saturdays. Sign up and we’ll put together crews of 3 so you only need to do it once every few months. Join with a child or friend and help the church together, or join on your own and work with some new friends. All equipment is at the church and as much direction as needed will be provided. Contact Carol at 281-363-2040 or Bill Bray at 281-419-0373.

Men's Discipleship Group
July 9
July 23
6:30am-7:30am

Meetings are every 2nd and 4th Wednesday of each month at 6:30am in the church parlor. Join us as we explore together God’s Word and see it’s relevance for our lives along with plenty of conversation about the wonder and the worry of discipleship and how it impacts all of our relationships. For more information you can contact our pastor at djones@wcpc-tx.org.

Men's Fellowship Lunch
July 2
11:30am-12:30pm

A monthly fellowship meal/study is conducted every first Wednesday (normally) of the month for men working in the Houston area from 11:30am to 12:30pm at the Last Concert Café (1403 Nance). If you have questions email Pastor Jones at djones@wcpc-tx.org.

Automatic Tithing

If you are interested in meeting your tithe through an automatic transfer of funds from your bank account, get a form in the office or on download from http://wcpc-tx.org/Forms/EFTAuthorization.pdf

Randall's
Cards

Your Randall's Card can trigger a donation to the Community Clinic.  How?  Just stop by the Customer Service desk and ask them to link your card to #1321.  That is our church number, but we pass all the proceeds to the clinic.

Kroger Cards

It is time to throw away the old “Kroger Share Cards” that you used to carry to the store. Kroger Stores have a new program called Neighbor to Neighbor. Pick up a Customer Letter from our Hospitality Desk or the church office. Take it to Kroger and have the bar code scanned when you check out with your Kroger Plus Card. Then, every time your Plus Card is swiped on future visits, it will trigger a donation to WCPC. And we pass every penny along to The Community Clinic.
