The
Youth Ministries Committee is committed to providing quality
programming and activities for the youth of WCPC. We provide Sunday
morning Sunday school classes, weekly Bible studies, and weekly
fellowship opportunities for all youth in grades 7–12.
During
2006, our inaugural year as a committee, our outstanding
accomplishments included:
In
2007, we look forward to continuing our mission of providing quality
programs to our youth wile working to develop their spiritual
maturity. Our goals for 2007 include:
-
Recruitment
of youth to re-start the youth leadership team. This is a group
of youth working with adults to develop Sunday evening
fellowship activities, games and devotionals. Working with the
youth elder, we have begun to recruit junior and senior high
students to be a part of this ministry and empower them with the
tools they need to lead their peers.
-
Have
an active role in the non-traditional worship service working
with the WCPC staff who will plan that service. We hope that the
youth will embrace this change and will look for opportunities
to be involved in leading this worship.
-
We
are sending two youth to the PC(USA) Triennium. We are also
committed to making the youth aware of summer 2007 opportunities
at Mo-Ranch, Cho-Yeh, and mission trips.
-
We
will work on team building among our youth with fundraisers and
mission projects.
-
Continue
to diligently find adults who want to be a part of youth
ministry as Sunday school teachers, Bible study leaders, or
youth group advisors for both junior and senior high students.
If
you are interested in working for or with our youth, please attend
our monthly meeting or contact the moderator, Regina
Garner, for information. There are many opportunities to help
out that do not require a weekly commitment.
This
committee meets on the first Monday of each month at 7:00pm in the
Senior High Youth Room.

In January 2007, several members of the 8th-grade confirmation
class and their mentors spent 3 days in Houston performing mission
outreach work.

The youth put on an annual Halloween party so
children as cute as this can have a safe and yummy trick or treat
experience!
